|Crafty Cat (Isle of Man) was formed in 1989 by Jean and Peter Tucker when they started to design and make craft items for the Celtic Craft Centre, by the entrance to Tholt-y-Will, one of the most beautiful of the Manx National Glens.|
|After ten years or so, the series “Around the Island in Cross-stitch” had grown to about fifty titles, ranging from animals and views, to churches, railways and the TT, as well as individual personalised designs.
In 2001 the Craft Centre closed, just before the precautionary foot-and-mouth restrictions severely limited the numbers of visitors to the Island; all upland footpaths were closed, and rambling in the countryside was prohibited.
However, enquiries for the kits still continued to arrive, many years after the Craft Centre had closed its doors, and so Jean and Peter have decided to bring the original series up-to-date, using improved modern facilities, and reintroduce the kits through a few local shops, and to a wider market through the craftycat.im website.
Peter Tucker can be contacted for details of current and forthcoming kits.
